Pizzerias among 'strictest' restaurants for special requests

October 9, 2014

Urbanspoon has compiled a list of America's Strictest Restaurants, or 35 concepts where substitutions, additions or deletions are either frowned upon or not allowed. The list is peppered with pizza concepts, including Jackson's Pizza in Seattle, where chefs spend months crafting the recipe for every pie, according to a news release.

Other examples include Father's Office, in Los Angeles, which famously doesn't serve ketchup for its burgers. Atlanta's Bone Garden Cantina forbids free samples, special orders, returns or sitting too long, and does not include a kids' menu.

The list is based on Urbanspoon user data, reviews and word of mouth. There are six pizza concepts on the list – the most of any segment – with cafes second, with five. International cuisines also had a strong showing, with Mexican, German, Cuban, Scandinavian and Indian restaurants featured on the list as well.
