IRVING, Texas—Despite flat comparable-store sales for its first quarter, revenue at Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza increased nicely during the period.
According to a news release, for the 13-week period ended April 2, comps rose 1.2 percent, and revenue increased 6 percent to $227 million versus $214.1 million last year. Net income fell, however, to $29.2 million in Q1 '06 from $31.3 million in Q1 '05.
The company credited the revenue increase to new store openings.
CEC Entertainment operates a system of 522 Chuck E. Cheese's restaurants in 48 states.
