LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Yum! Brands, parent of Dallas-based Pizza Hut, said third-quarter comparable-store sales at the chain's 1,760 U.S. corporate units declined 3 percent. Period nine sales declined 4 percent.
According to a news release, Pizza Hut had high sales marks to overcome in the same periods in 2004, when Q3 comps rose 5 percent and period nine comps increased 3 percent.
Pizza Hut does not report sales at its franchised units, which make up about three-fourths of its U.S. system.
Q3 sales at sister companies Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken rose 8 percent and 6 percent respectively.
