Restaurant group acquires 40 Pizza Huts

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- JEM Restaurant Group has announced it has acquired 40 Pizza Hut restaurants located in the Georgia markets of Columbus and Macon, as well as the Jacksonville, Fla., market. The purchase includes real estate, leasehold interests and restaurant operating equipment.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Charleston, S.C.-based JEM Restaurant Group, owned by John McGrath, operates more than 100 Taco Bell and Pizza Hut franchised restaurants in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida. The 40-unit acquisition was tendered under a new operating entity, Southeastern Pizza Group LLC.
JEM Restaurant Group is teaming up with Jerry Buss, a former chief operating officer of Pizza Hut, to operate the restaurants.
