Sbarro celebrates 700th unit opening

Sbarro celebrated the opening of the brand's 700th store on July 14 in Peachtree Mall in Columbus, Georgia. It's the 52nd store to open this year. The brand opened 103 stores in 2022, according to a press release.

The 700th store is helmed by Rocco and Anthony Armocida. Their parents, Adele and Mario Armocida, were Sbarro's first franchisees more than 40 years ago. The Armocidas own 17 Sbarro locations.

"We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of our 700th location with the Armocida family," David Karam, CEO at Sbarro, said in the press release. "In partnership with the Armocidas and all our valued franchisees we have built a legacy of serving handmade, fresh, extra-large slices topped with high quality ingredients to our valued customers and are now the worldwide leader in the impulse pizza category."

Sbarro plans to open more than 100 units in 2023. The brand operates in more than 30 countries.
