MELVILLE, N.Y. — Sbarro, the 915-unit mall-centered pizza and pasta chain, has told the Securities and Exchange Commission its 2004 annual report will be delayed.
According to a regulatory filing, the company will miss the filing deadline because it needs more time to assess the impact of new SEC rules on its accounting for operating leases. It does not believe the accounting change will have a significant effect on its overall results.
Sbarro does plan to report a loss for fiscal 2004, but it said revenues for the period improved significantly over 2003.
