Kansas City, Mo.-based Spin Neapolitan pizza has signed its first franchisee, Craig Hofman, who has plans to develop 35 restaurants in the Southern California region.
According to KansasCity.com, Hofman operates 15 Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ locations in California, Arizona and Nevada.
Gail and Richard Lozoff and Edwin Brownell, opened the first Spin in Overland Park, Kan., in 2005 and now have four locations in Kansas and Missouri. A Lenexa, Kan., location is scheduled to open in May. The group is looking for additional franchisees.
James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Smith collaborated on the Spin menu. Items include traditional thin crust, whole wheat and gluten-free stone-fired pizzas, with traditional and gourmet toppings. The concept also includes appetizers, soups, salads, Panini, Italian deli sandwiches and gelato.
