Spin Neapolitan Pizza, a Kansas City-based fast casual pizza concept founded 13 years ago, has changed its name to Spin Pizza, part of a large effort to enhance the customer experience, according to a company press release.
Extensive testing at one Kansas City location and feedback from a guest survey on brand perception sparked the change, which is official in the chain's Missouri, Kansas and Texas locations. Nebraska and California units will take on the moniker in the first quarter of 2019.
The chain has also made a variety of other changes, including launching a new website, adding simplified menu boards and replacing most of the Italian words with easier-to-pronounce English equivalents, Founding Partner Ed Brownell, said in the release.
"Our new menu, inspired by James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Smith, who helps develop our menu, has been in test mode at a Kansas City location since summer," Brownell, said. "Based on feedback from our guest survey, the revised menu has been a huge success. We look forward to offering it in all of our restaurants."
Menu additions include a 14-inch pizza option, Chicken Cobb salad, Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich and the Italian sandwich, which comes with Genoa salami, soppressata, capicola, and black forest ham, mayo, red wine vinegar, olive oil, classic provolone, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes on a toasted baguette.
A new appetizer option is the Duo, featuring the chain's White Bean Hummus and Roasted Red Pepper and Goat Cheese dips. The Stuffed Mondo Pork Meatball, Roasted Eggplant, flatbread, and individual house-made dips will remain on the menu.
Spin's guest survey revealed that patrons rarely ordered bottles of wine but wanted great wines by the glass. In order to meet that need, Brownell said his wine sommelier has crafted an improved wine selection with wines being served by the glass or carafe. The chain is also offering a BYOV (Bring Your Own Vino) for a $5 corking fee. Other adult beverages include beer on tap, bottled beer and two house-made Red and Blood Orange sangrias.
Spin has a total of 15 locations across Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Nebraska and California.
