Stevi B's names new president

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Buffet concept Stevi B's has named Matthew Loney, 31, president. Loney is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's corporate operations and franchise sales and support programs.
Immediately prior to joining Stevi B's, Loney was vice president and general counsel for Mellow Mushroom, an Atlanta-based casual dine-in pizza chain with more than 90 units. His past professional experience also includes practicing law at the Atlanta-based firm of Alston & Bird, where he served clients operating in the franchise industry.
Loney earned his law degree from the University of Iowa and his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University.
During the last 12 months, Stevi B's has signed development agreements to add 18 new locations to its system. Included in the agreements is a pair of multiunit deals which will add a total of 13 new restaurants along Florida's eastern and southern coasts during the next three years.
The company anticipates opening between seven and nine new franchise locations in 2009, with the first opening this week in Woodhaven, Mich. Additional units are slated to open in Winder and Gainesville, Ga., and West Palm Beach, Fla., in the early part of the year.
