December 4, 2006
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Almost two-thirds of restaurant operators have tested or are testing self-service solutions, a Channel Media & Market Research survey says.
The survey shows that restaurants are preparing to install a significant number of self-service solutions by mid-2007.
Approximately 60 percent of survey respondents were C-level executives evenly split between franchise and corporate-owned organizations. Half of all respondents represented restaurant chains with more than $100 million in system-wide sales in 2005 and worked for quick-service establishments.
Other key survey findings include:
- Respondents were most aware of MICROS, NCR, NextChoice and Radiant as leading self-service solution providers.
- Top self-service advantages: Accuracy, speed and store reporting.
- Top self-service challenges: Cost and point-of-sale integration.
- Top self-service features: customer data capture, gift cards and Web ordering.
