System sales up, comps flat at Pizza Huts in Australia, New Zealand

March 3, 2004

AUCKLAND, New Zealand—Restaurant Brands, franchisee of Pizza Hut units here and in Australia, saw sales at the chain rise 4.2 percent to NZ $18 million (U.S. $11.9 million), but watched same-store store sales decline 0.4 percent in its most recent fourth quarter.

According to Reuters, the company blamed the sales decline on the unusually warm summer and reduced advertising and promotion.

Pizza Hut's Australian stores saw sales rise 5.3 percent to $7 million (U.S. $4.6 million), outpacing a same-store sales rise of 1 percent.
