The Pizza Studio plans Midwest debut

Los Angeles-based The Pizza Studio has announced a multi-unit franchise agreement with PS Midwest Development LLC, a BRICK Restaurant Group-managed company.

BRICK Restaurant Group also manages Freebirds World Burrito franchise locations across Kansas and Missouri.

BRICK has plans to open Pizza Studio locations across the Kansas City, Mo., market area with eventual plans to move into Oklahoma and Arkansas. The first restaurant is expected to open in early 2014 in Kansas, with at least 20 restaurants in the plan.

The Pizza Studio is a create-your-own custom pizza concept that offers an assortment of crusts, specialty sauces, nitrate-free meats and fresh and roasted vegetables, according to a news release. The company's proprietary thin, crispy crusts were in development for a year.

The Pizza Studio supports local artists by providing a venue to display and sell their art commission-free.
