Ulster County N.Y. passes menu labeling
April 8, 2009
Ulster County, N.Y., which is located about 90 miles north of New York City, has become the fourth municipality to pass a menu labeling ordinance in the state.
According to Mid-Hudson News Network, the resolution passed 17-9 despite opponents' saying it places too much of a burden on businesses in a struggling economy.
According to the Ulster County Government Web site, the regulation requires chain restaurants with 15 or more locations to post calorie counts on menus and menu boards. The law takes effect in 180 days.
