Uno celebrates 'uno person, uno vote'

Uno Pizzeria & Grill is combining National Pizza Month recognition with a kind of pre-election tribute to the whole idea of democracy and one person, one vote, or in this case, maybe "uno" person, "uno" vote.

This month, the pizzeria is allowing its customers to determine the pizza recipe they want on the next UNO menu, a news release said. And unlike the more substantive election scheduled for Nov. 3, in Uno's election, vote-buying is not only legal, but central to the whole event.

That's because in Uno's election, the brand will buy customers votes by giving every voter in this restaurant-ified election a free pizza with their next purchase of a pizza of equal or greater value.

The candidates in this decision of the next great menu addition, at "press time," included:

• Cheese and Hot Oil Thin Crust – Three-cheese and tomato pizza kicked up a notch with a drizzle of red pepper and garlic olive oil.
• Mac and Cheese Deep Dish – The signature Uno deep dish crust filled with mac and cheese, mozzarella and cheddar.
• Bianco Love Thin Crust – A white pizza with ricotta, aged cheddar, mozzarella, romano, extra virgin olive oil and seasoned garlic.
• Rattlesnake Deep Dish – Inspired by Uno's rattlesnake pasta, this pie features spicy asiago cream sauce, chicken breast, a blend of cheeses, jalapeno slices and a drizzle of buffalo sauce.
• Bruschetta-Roni Thin Crust – Provolone, pepperoni and seasoned diced tomatoes with a drizzle of seasoned extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil.
• Spinach, Goat Cheese and Caramelized Onions Deep Dish – Fresh spinach, caramelized onions and creamy goat cheese with house-made pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, aged cheddar and romano.
