U.S. comps negative for Nov. at Papa John's

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Papa John's International announced that domestic system-wide comparable sales for the four weeks ended Nov. 19, 2006, were negative 0.3 percent (composed of a 0.6 percent increase at company-owned units and a 0.6 percent decrease at franchise units).
According to a news release, for the year, domestic comps are up 3.4 percent (composed of a 4 percent increase at company-owned units and a 3.3 percent increase at franchise units).
Total system-wide international sales for Papa John's units increased 24.6 percent for November, and 26.8 percent for the year to date, measured on a constant-dollar basis.
The sidestep marks the second month in a row Papa John's has posted negative sales numbers. Through September, the company ran positive comps for 22 months straight.
