U.S. Pizza Hut February sales down 6%

February 26, 2003

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Yum Brands Inc., reported that sales at its U.S. company-owned Pizza Hut stores were down 6 percent for the four-week period ended Feb. 22, compared to a year ago.

In a release the company said wintry weather, which temporarily closed some Northeast U.S. sites, also hurt sales at its Taco Bell and KFC fast-food chains.

Yum's international system sales for the period (made up mostly of revenues from Pizza Hut and KFC stores) rose 10 percent before foreign currency conversion and 15 percent after conversion to U.S. dollars.

Yum also reaffirmed its first-quarter earnings per share guidance of 38 cents.
