Former ad agency veteran and food brand marketing mind, Greg Wold, has been named Toppers Pizza vice president of marketing, a news release said.

The marketing executive has helped create the voice of brands like Jersey Mike's, Jimmy John's and Intelligentsia Coffee, according to Toppers and even helped to give Wisconsin cheese a bigger slice of the cheese wheel.

"Toppers has been killing it for almost 30 years, and after seeing how we thrived during a global pandemic, we know now is the time for us to take our game up a notch," Toppers founder and President Scott Gittrich said in the release. "Greg is an incredibly gifted marketer and really knows how to identify a brand's potential."

Toppers has 65 stores and reports that despite the pandemic its year-over-year sales have grown 15%. Likewise, the company still plans to open three more locations by the end of this year.

"Toppers' one-of-a-kind product puts big-chain pizza to shame and creates passionate consumers that never settle for boring pizza," said Wold. "I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this brand."

Headquartered in Whitewater, Wisconsin, Toppers leadership said it plans to maintain corporate ownership of 25% of the chain's stores.
