Villa Italian Kitchen lives life on the edge with new 'crusts-only' side

July 12, 2019

The fact that some pizza-eaters prefer the crust to the "meat" of the slice itself is finally getting some long overdue attention by New Jersey-based pizza brand, Villa Italian Kitchen, which next week will start selling orders of pizza crust alone, sans inner pie.

Villa Italian Kitchen Communications and Digital Market Director Mimi Wunderlich said the brand's leadership also loves that crust like so many pizza devotees, so they decided to focus on a side dish of the stuff, which will sell for $2.75, beginning next Thursday, July 18.

"We know that the crust is everyone's favorite part of the pizza, so skipping straight to selling pizza crusts only seemed like the perfect idea," she told in a news release.

Lest you imagine that the chain is either selling or tossing whole pies that it cuts the crusts from for this new dish, rest assured that the brand's crusty menu item is made specifically as such from dough that the brand said is created and cooked in the outline of its pizzas, complete with random drizzles of sauce and cheese to fully recreate the crusts of its pies.

The 54-year-old chain has nearly 350 restaurants and is a sub-brand of Villa Restaurant Group, which also operates a number of QSRs and full-service brands.
