Soyleic soybeans could be the future of food. That's according to Brian Stobaugh, Missouri Soybean Association and Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council Director of Licensing and Commercialization.
During the podcast "Soyleic: The Future of a Healthier Food System" hosted by Fastcasual.com and sponsored by Soyleic, Stobaugh introduced listeners to Soyleic soybeans.
"The easiest way to describe them is a high oleic, low linolenic soybean that was created through natural discovery in traditional breeding here in Southeast Missouri," Stobaugh said.
A University of Missouri professor found the soybean and worked with a USDA scientist to patent it. "So, it's a patented, non-GMO high-oleic trait," Stobaugh added.
It was a funded research project through the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council's portfolio.
