Pizza supply prices fall across the board

Commodities update for the week of April 26, 2010.

Cheese  Block cheese prices trended down last week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, averaging at $1.37 per pound. Prices dropped 6 cents on average from the previous week.    Prices closed at $1.39 on Monday, $1.37 on Tuesday, and $1.37 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.   Wheat   Prices for wheat on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange closed at $5.01 Monday, $5.19 Tuesday, $5.16 per bushel Wednesday and $5.29 on Thursday. Nothing was reported for Friday.   Gasoline and diesel fuel  The nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.85 per gallon April 26, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, down 1 cent from the previous week.   Prices are up 1 percent from an average of $2.81 per gallon a month ago and up 39 percent from an average of $2.05 per gallon this time last year. Mid-range unleaded currently averages $3.03 per gallon while premium unleaded as of April 26 stood at $3.14 per gallon.   The nationwide average price for diesel fuel stood at $3.07 per gallon April 26, flat from last week. Diesel prices are up 35 percent from an average of $2.27 per gallon this time last year.   Natural gas  Natural gas spot prices fell during the week at locations across the country, with declines ranging from 12 to 62 cents per million Btu (MMBtu), according to the Energy Information Administration. The Henry Hub spot price fell 19 cents, or about 5 percent, averaging $3.96 per MMBtu on April 21.
Pizza company stocks   Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. closed at $43.44 on April 21, up 74 cents compared with the previous week's close of $42.70. YUM traded at a 52-week high of $43.92 in April 2010 and a 52-week low of $31.54 in May 2009.   Domino's closed at $15.89, up $1.07 compared with the previous Friday's close of $14.82. DPZ has traded as high as $15.99 in April 2010 and as low as $7.05 in July 2009, over the past 52 weeks.   Papa John's stock closed at $28.31, up 60 cents compared with the previous Friday's close of $27.71. PZZA traded at a 52-week high of $29.25 in May 2009 a 52-week low of $21.44 in December 2009.   Shares in CEC Entertainment Inc., parent company of Chuck E. Cheese restaurants, closed at $40.95, up $1.70 compared with the previous week's close of $39.25. CEC traded at a 52-week high of $39.87 in April 2010 and a 52-week low of $24.69 in October 2009.   California Pizza Kitchen closed at $21.22 on April 21, up 97 cents from the previous week's close of $20.25. CPKI traded as high as $22.92 in April 2010 and as low as $12.29 in December 2009.   Pizza Inn closed at $1.95 on April 21, up 4 cents from the previous week's close of $1.91. PZZI traded at a 52-week high of $2.25 in June 2009 and a 52-week low of $1.24 cents in May 2009.
