15 bad checks to pizzeria not enough to jail customer

September 9, 2003

CAMP HILL, Fla. -- A Camp Hill man was sentenced to six months in prison -- and then immediately paroled -- after admitting to writing 15 bad checks to a local Pizza Hut.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Cumberland County Judge Edgar Bayley let Halil Nickos Steigerwalt walk after Steigerwalt pleaded guilty to penning $622 in cold checks for hot pizza.

"I've learned my lesson," Steigerwalt told Bayley.

"Good ... don't come back," Bayley replied.
