35 pizzerias sign on for 18-state kids' pizza-making contest

September 24, 2006

LAFAYETTE, Calif. — Thirty-five independent pizzerias from 18 states signed up to host the first national kids pizza-making contest, sponsored by Lindsay Olives and The World Pizza Champions. The event will be held Oct. 7.

According to a news release, the contest challenges children ages 12 and younger to make a kid-sized pie with their favorite ingredients, including olives, at the pizzeria. There it will be baked and judged, and the winning pizza pie will be named by its creator and added to the pizzeria's menu.

One winner, selected randomly from winners at all participating pizzerias, will be awarded a grand prize that includes a visit by a member of The World Pizza Champion Team, who will teach them pizza acrobatic tricks.

All winners will receive a case of their favorite Lindsay Olives.

Lindsay Olives is providing the marketing, media outreach, sign-up materials and olives to each pizzeria. All participating pizzerias will be responsible for distributing marketing and media materials, selecting the judges, providing all other ingredients.
