In recognition of National Pizza Week, zpizza conducted a national survey of 242 U.S. residents asking the public to share their opinions about their pizza-eating habits and preferences.

"Americans love pizza and it's fun to see the many ways they enjoy it from leftovers for breakfast to experimenting with toppings," said Sid Fanarof, founder and owner of zpizza. "I was inspired to create zpizza to match up with my passion for quality ingredients, and 25 years later I'm still finding new ways to put a twist on the traditional pizza."

Key findings include:

  • Breakfast of Champions: 80 percent of people eat their leftover pizza for breakfast.
  • Dipping is not for the Type A: When it comes to dipping pizza in sauce, people who reported they were "conscientious" said they are the least likely to do it (83 percent). Millennials are the most likely to dip their pizza (52 percent).
  • Don't Stop at One Slice: The survey showed that nearly two thirds (64 percent) of respondents ate an average of 3-4 pizza slices during a meal.
  • Women Dig Bacon: When asking men and women about their favorite topping choices, the majority of men chose pepperoni (41 percent) while women named bacon at their top choice (9 percent).
  • Toppings Top the List: Toppings beat out crust and sauce when respondents were asked about their favorite part of the pizza (36 percent, 29 percent and 16 percent respectively).

zpizza will offer one free topping to customers through January. Topping choices include ingredients like caramelized onions, cremini mushrooms, roasted peppers, roma tomatoes and artichoke hearts.
