Artichoke Basille's Pizza will open its first freestanding store this fall in Newington, Connecticut, also the first store in that state. The Berlin Turnpike location was part of a multi-unit agreement with franchisee Matthew Rusconi earlier this year, a news release said.
The 1,600-square-foot location seats 35 with space for a full-service bar and features design elements, such as exposed brick and antiqued tin.
"In New York, most of our locations are in centuries-old tenement buildings, so the site of this location is somewhat of a departure for us," Co-founder and Co-owner Francis Garcia said in the release. "But we have full confidence that the Newington store will transplant a little bit of New York City to Hartford County."
The concept operates 12 locations in New York, Miami, and Berkeley, California, with 10 more stores in development in New Jersey, northern California and Connecticut.
