Artichoke Basille's opens 1st Connecticut store

Artichoke Basille's Pizza said it will open its first Connecticut location on Feb. 14 on Berlin Turnpike in Newington with a Sweetheart's Deal, featuring two slices and sodas for $9 all day long. The opening marks the first of five Artichoke Pizza locations to be opened across the state by franchisee, Matthew Rusconi, a news release said.

The brand will also kick off its Connecticut debut on Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a fundraiser to benefit Newington High School's SafeGrad event, when for a $10 donation, customers get a slice, soda and T-shirt with all the proceeds going to the high school's program to provide a substance-free post-graduation celebration for all Newington High School students graduating this year.

The Newington location is the first freestanding store in the Artichoke empire, and spans just over 1600 square feet. The store includes indoor seating for 35 people and a full-service bar. The brand now has 12 locations in New York, Miami, and Berkeley, California, and more than 10 stores in development in New Jersey, Northern California and Connecticut.
