Cheddar blocks blow past $1.90

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hold onto your wallets, pizza operators. Cheddar block prices surged during Dec. 2 trading on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

When nine bids for blocks went unfilled (an indication of strong demand and short supply) prices soared to $1.95, up 9.25 cents on the day.
