Pizza Hut India will serve beer and wine in stores throughout the country after pilot-testing the concept in Delhi and Bangalore.
According to the India Times, Pizza Hut had applied for a permit to offer wine and beer in October and plans to increase its store presence by 50 percent to about 200 by 2015. The company now has 120 restaurants in 34 cities.
"Wherever there is a demand for our dining experience, our endeavour would be to deliver that. Anywhere there is retail space and people demand for such experience, we would love to be there," said Sunay Bhasin, Pizza Hut's marketing director.
He said the company's current strategy is to change the concept of Pizza Hut from the traditional QSR to a casual dining restaurant.
