Beer and pizza have long been compatible, so perhaps it's no surprise that a Georgia Pizza Hut recently applied for license to sell beer and wine.
According to the Dade County Sentinel, the Trenton City, Ga. Commission unanimously approved Pizza Hut's malt beverage serving permit application earlier this week.
Because of the approval, background checks for employees will be stricter, including fingerprint submissions.
Trenton's ordinance permitting wine and beer by the drink was initially introduced in August 2010 and was met with vehement opposition from churches and other groups. A compromise was met when the ordinance was modified to ban malt beverage sales within 300 feet of churches.
This wouldn't be the first Pizza Hut unit to sell spirits. In Massillon, Ohio, a unit sells beer and is awaiting approval to sell wine.
The Trenton unit recently reopened after closing for repairs from tornado damage sustained in April.
