Blast 825° crowdsources pizza recipes from local charities

November 21, 2014

Blast 825° has announced the winner of its "People's Choice" award from the brand's recent Roseville, California, grand opening event. The Placer SPCA, one of four local charities that participated in Roseville Blast 825°'s charity build contest, had the winning signature pizza for National Pizza Month.

The organizations pizza, called the "Sophisticat," featured white sauce, Blast 825°'s cheese blend, roasted mushrooms, roasted onion and arugula. More than 115 of these pizzas were sold, raising more than $650 from Sept. 24 through Oct. 2, which Blast 825° matched to donate a total of $1,300 to the Placer SPCA.

Roseville Blast 825° worked with four local charities that each crafted a signature, custom pizza at its grand opening VIP Pizza Party. Representatives from Albie Aware, Placer SPCA, Blue Line Arts and Placer Food Bank each created a pizza, choosing from over 40 toppings, four sauces and three hand-stretched doughs.

"We are happy to offer the Placer SPCA our support through this fun, creative, hands on contest," said John Ferdinandi, CEO of parent company Milano Restaurants, in a news release. "Our customers rely on Blast 825° for quick fired, unique and delicious menu options. We are proud to say also that local, non-profit organizations can also rely on us."

Ferdinandi added that more events like this will take place as the brand expands in California, Nevada, Arizona and Texas.
