Bom chicka wah-wah ... Mellow Mushroom 'mellows out' with date night

Mellow Mushroom is fanning the flames of home-based romance with its Wednesday date night specials that include two 10-inch stone baked pies and pretzel bites for $25, a news release said. And the brand can also throw in a bottle of wine to stoke the fires of love as well.

In fact, the traditionally dine-in pizza brand is encouraging its date night couples to share photos of their warm to wild Wednesday escapades on Instagram and/or Facebook with #MellowLove for a chance to win a date night package. Aside from the pair of a couple's favorite home-baked pies, each order contains pretzel bites made from the brand's pizza dough, finished with garlic butter and Parmesan, and served with a side of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer cheese sauce. 

Mellow Mushroom quoted information reported in Datassential's 2020 Sheltered report showing many Americans view quarantine eating as a necessary function rather than a happy occasion to connect with loved ones. In fact, 42% of respondants in the research said the would try a date night during quarantine, with 41% of those saying they would be willing to order out for that dinner. 

Mellow Mushroom saw that information as an opportunity. 

"Cupid is alive and well in quarantine," said Anne Meija, Mellow Mushroom vice president of brand development, in the release. "Just because we're all in quarantine it doesn't mean we have to give up special moments like date nights. We can still dress up and share a love connection at home, or a meal together over Facetime with the people who mean the most to us."
