Two auto accidents involving pizza carryout have made for some pretty interesting headlines, not the least of which was singer-songwriter Billy Joel's new smash-hit on April 25.
According to multiple news services, Joel was returning from picking up pizza when he lost control of his vintage 1967 Citroen on a slippery Long Island road and hit a house. The crashed marked Joel's third-such fender-bender in two years.
Luckily, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's pride suffered more damage than his body; he reportedly walked away with only a cut on his left ring finger.
A headline on Fox News' Web site advised the 54-year-old to "Stay off the Road, You're the Piano Man!"
Another traffic accident in Londonderry, N.H., which included multiple cars, was a bit more serious.
According to the Union Leader, Matthew Wing, 31, was so focused on his slice of breakfast pizza that he drove his car through a red light and into the path of Sean Doolan, 38, and his Toyota pickup.
The April 19 impact knocked the truck into the air, causing it to stand straight up before flipping over and landing on the driver's side. Wing's car continued on and appeared to sideswipe the third vehicle that was turning left onto Winding Pond Road, police said.
Hmm. Must have been some pizza.
Fortunately, there were no injuries in the otherwise spectacular crash.
