Cheese prices nearly double from last year

CHICAGO — Block cheese prices are continuing their upward trend, standing at $2.02 per pound on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as of June 18, up 5 cents from last week.

Block cheese averaged $1.735 per pound a month ago and $1.975 per pound last week. A year ago, block cheese was selling for $1.195 per pound.
