Chuck E. Cheese's is currently testing an adaptive learning program, called Brainrush Academy, in its Los Angeles locations. Guests at select locations in that market can sign up for one of two game-based learning programs featured in-store.
According to a news release, Brainrush Academy provides "academics, entrepreneurship, arts and technology education, all through adaptive learning software that is used as a supplement to the classroom.”
Both parents and teachers have input into specific areas of focus for the child, and each program also features time out for gameplay at Chuck E. Cheese's to reward progress.
"The environment we foster at Chuck E. Cheese's is one where kids can enjoy unstructured time to play, explore and interact with others their own age," CEO Tom Leverton said in the release. "The Brainrush Academy programs will enhance and build upon that experience by offering games that challenge kids mentally and physically, while keeping the learning process fun."
Participants can choose to sign up for daily, weekly, or monthly installments of either program:
Each program will be led by trained Brainrush Academy educators in the Showroom at each test location. Parents and educators can select a customizable learning plan with activities ranging from arts and music to robotics and more. Some programs are also suitable for both parents and kids to participate in together, such as fitness and financial responsibility.
"Chuck E. Cheese's is the ideal setting for our program, because kids are in charge of their experience," Brainrush Academy President Megan Lisa Jones said in the release. "We want kids to feel ownership when it comes to learning and playing. Both Brainrush Academy andChuck E. Cheese's give students that opportunity in a world of strict schedules and regimented curriculum."
Brainrush Academy is now available free of charge for the next two weeks at the Chuck E. Cheese's locations in Glendale, Thousand Oaks and West Hills, California, during which time parents will be able to bring their children in-store to test out the program. Brainrush Academy will officially launch Nov. 10.
