CiCi's truckers hit the road for Special Olympics
October 2, 2008
COPPELL, Texas — Ten truckers from JMC Restaurant Distribution donated time, money and gas on Sept. 20 for an eight-mile trek throughMarietta, Ga.,as part of a national effort to raise funds for Special Olympics.
This year's convoy was smaller than last year's as sponsors downsized a bit in the face of higher fuel prices. JMC was the event's only Gold Sponsor, with a donation of $2,500.
Each year, law enforcement agencies across the country organize this event, dubbed the World's Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics. This year, 33 agencies, including the Marietta Police Department and the Cobb County Sheriff's Office, participated in the fundraiser.
This year's event, which featured 64 truckers in all, raised more than $16,000.
