Collar-bomb suspect ruled competent

A judge in Pennsylvania has ruled that a woman accused of masterminding an elaborate bank robbery that ended in the death of pizza deliveryman Brian Wells is competent to stand trial, according to a story in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
U.S. District Judge Sean McLaughlin had ruled last year ago that Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong was incompetent to stand trial due to mental illness. This week, he ruled yesterday that she had recovered to the point that she could understand the charges against her and assist a lawyer in her defense.
Diehl-Armstrong has maintained that she is innocent of the 2003 robbery in which Wells was killed by a bomb locked around his neck. Before the bomb exploded, Wells told police he had been forced at gunpoint to wear the bomb.
