SLIDELL, La. -- Credit card receipts were stolen from six Domino's Pizza outlets in St. Tammany Parish, prompting local officials to warn customers to monitor their credit card statements closely for unwarranted charges.
According to The Times-Picayune, the receipts were stolen from a Domino's near Slidell, where they were left outside for courier pick up, said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman James Hartman. Those receipts were gathered from six Domino's stores.
Authorities are concerned the thief will launch a spending spree with the credit card numbers.
"Customers are urged to double-check their statements carefully," Hartman said. "Technology may have made spending and transferring money easier, but it has also opened vast opportunities for thieves to strike without leaving a fingerprint."
