Domino's Pizza enters New Zealand market June 30

June 24, 2003

ASHBURTON, New Zealand -- The pizza war in New Zealand is about to heat up with the entry of Domino's Pizza into the market next week.

According to the Ashburton Guardian, Domino's, which has about 240 outlets in Australia, will open its first New Zealand store in Wellington on June 30.

Domino's spokesman Andy Massod said the chain is beginning a rapid rollout of as many as 80 New Zealand stores.

Part of the pizza chain's aggressive New Zealand marketing campaign -- aimed directly at market leader Pizza Hut -- includes the slogan, "I've got the hots for what's in the box with the dots."
