Donatos Pizza plans launch in tri state area

Donatos Pizza is expanding to at least three new locations in the tri-state area of Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.

The Ohio-based concept, originally founded by Jim Grote, was purchased by McDonald's in 1999, and then repurchased by Jim and daughter Jane, in 2003.

"We are extremely excited to bring Donatos to the Owensboro market. It's a territory we've had our eyes on for quite some time, and hope this expansion will open even more doors for us as we continue to boost our brand footprint across the mid-west," said Tom Pendrey, COO, in a release.

The three locations will be owned and operated by Sean and Jennifer Byrne and Mark and Liane Riney, of Tristate Pizza LLC.
