Driver beaten, stabbed by gang of six during robbery

August 11, 2003

BATTERSEA, United Kingdom -- A pizza delivery driver was stabbed and robbed by a gang as he attempted to deliver a pizza, according to police.

According to a report in icSouthLondon, the unidentified Pizza Go-Go delivery driver was attacked by six men in an elevator as he attempted delivery to Winstanley Estate Aug. 10.

The driver was beaten but managed to break free. He was stabbed in the thigh and robbed when his assailants followed him to his motorcycle.

The area to which he was delivering is one pizza parlors try not to deliver to.

"The estate is a no-go area," said Soli Khorsarvanifar, a manager for the company. "We ask customers to pick up from a main road, but they refuse. They're paying, after all."

The 23-year-old driver, who was hospitalized after the attack, has since left his job.
