Eagle Boys entrepreneur building business empire

March 26, 2008

FAIRFIELD, Queensland, Australia — Eagle Boys Pizza's youngest-ever franchisee has taken the reigns of his second store.

Joseph Palmer, 20, bought his first Eagle Boys store in Fairfield, Queensland, in September 2007. He had been the store's manager for a year.

This month, he and business partner David Parkinson took over the ownership of an Eagle Boys location in Fortitude Valley, Queensland.

Palmer has a goal of owning 10 Eagle Boys stores in five years.

"It was a big decision to buy my own store. But from the day I came to Eagle Boys, my intention was to own a store myself," Palmer said.

While some of his staff members are older than he is, Palmer said that hadn't created any problems in the kitchen.

"Sometimes it's weird having someone older working for you, but as long as you relate to them as a person then it's fine," he said.

Eagle Boys is one of Australia's largest pizza chains. The company operates more than 200 franchised stores throughout Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
