The Date Code Genie, a fully automated, date-code labeling system for use in the foodservice industry, will launch this summer at the Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo Aug. 18-20. in Los Angeles.
Date Code Genie, developed by Coda Resources in Brooklyn, N.Y., provides a solution to an age-old foodservice industry problem: How to serve fresh food, yet waste as little as possible, according to a company press release. It's the first fully integrated date-code labeling system that employs app, Web and cloud technologies and saves foodservice professionals time and money by cutting labor hours. With a few simple swipes and taps on the touchscreen, DCG accomplishes in seconds what usually takes employees hours to do by hand, said a company representative.
DCG prints easy-to-read labels that satisfy all date-coding laws with guaranteed accuracy and eliminates waste caused by poor hand-writing and date & time miscalculation, thus protecting foodservice establishments from liability and customers from foodborne illnesses, according to the release. Also, managers and owners can update the system remotely.
