Fuel Pizza expands beyond the Carolinas

January 12, 2012

Fuel Pizza, which has 11 units in North and South Carolina, is set to open its first Washington, D.C., location next week.

The restaurant will be located on K Street NW, according to the Huffington Post.

Fuel first opened in 1998 and features New York-style pizza.

The chain is owned by Jeremy Wladis and Paula Seefeldt and their New York-based company, The Restaurant Group. According to reports, the team has been eyeing the D.C. market for expansion for about five years.

In addition to the K Street location, another D.C. restaurant is set to open soon on F Street NW.

Fuel's menu features a variety of toppings, including goat cheese, pesto, sun-dried tomatoes and Kalamata olives. It also offers a lasagna pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, pyramid pizza (with representation from all major food groups), the Cajun and more. There also are more than 15 gluten-free options, wings, sandwiches, calzones, salads, kids' meals and desserts.

For the grand opening event Jan. 18, all guests will eat on the house, and the first 50 customers will win free food for the entire year.
