Giordano’s, Smoque BBQ launch Texas-inspired Pitmaster Deep Dish

Giordano's has announced in a news release that it has teamed with Chicago-based Smoque BBQ to launch the Pitmaster Deep Dish, a limited-edition pizza combining Chicago stuffed deep dish with Texas-style barbecue.

Available exclusively through Giordano's e-commerce platform for nationwide shipping, the pizza features Smoque's smoked beef brisket, spicy sausage and candied jalapeños. A housemade barbecue sauce developed specifically for the collaboration replaces traditional pizza sauce.

The two Chicago brands spent months developing the pizza and barbecue sauce designed to balance sweet, savory, tangy and spicy flavors while complementing Giordano's stuffed-pizza format.

"We wanted something that looked like Chicago but ate like Austin," Smoque BBQ co-founder Barry Sorkin said in a company press release.

Giordano's CEO Nick Scarpino said the collaboration brings together two distinct food traditions while remaining rooted in Chicago.

"The Pitmaster Deep Dish brings together two very different traditions in a way that still feels unmistakably Chicago," Scarpino said in the release. "Smoque brought its barbecue expertise, we brought the stuffed deep dish, and together we created something we think fans of both are going to have a lot of fun trying."

The Pitmaster Deep Dish is available for a limited time in two-, four- and six-pizza packs. Pizzas are shipped frozen nationwide and arrive ready to bake at home.
