Hot dog champ wins Pizza Hut P'Zone challenge

July 10, 2007

NEW YORK — World hot dog eating champion Joey Chestnut, the No. 2-ranked competitive eater in the world, won a P'Zone-eating competition over Pizza Hut P'Zone Challenge contest winner Marivic Stewart of Spokane, Wash.

Chestnut consumed 4.82 pounds of P'Zones, six times the amount eaten by Stewart, who ate three-fourths of a P'Zone, or .8 pounds.

The 1-pound P'Zone pizza features pizza ingredients sealed inside a 12-inch crust. Available for $5.99 at participating Pizza Hut restaurants, it is available in three recipes: Meaty, Pepperoni, and Classic.

Stewart won the right to compete against Chestnut, as well as an all-expense paid vacation to New York, after submitting photos and an essay to Pizza Hut's "Dare You to Still Be Hungry" contest in June.

Takeru Kobayashi, the No. 1-ranked six-time hot dog champ, served as the head judge.
