Kotipizza sees record-breaking sales in March

April 10, 2018

Total sales for restaurants in the Kotipizza chain, part of Kotipizza Group Oyj, grew 19.4 percent in March 2018 compared with the year before. Same-store sales, based on figures from 237 restaurants, rose 13.6 percent.

In 2018, March sales came to more than $12.5 million, compared with $10.4 million in the previous year. March 2018 boasted the best sales in Kotipizza's history, as monthly sales exceeded $12.2 million for the second time — the first time being December 2017. Including March, sales have risen for 36 consecutive months.

In March, a new record was also set for the all-time highest monthly sales at an individual Kotipizza restaurant, as Kotipizza Levi reached sales of over $202,600. The previous record for monthly sales at an individual restaurant, $171,900, was set by Kotipizza Levi in March 2017.

Sales at the chain's brick-and-mortar restaurants increased 20.7 percent; sales at shop-in-shop locations rose 12.6 percent. Online store sales grew 45.5 percent to $1.257 million, exceeding the 1 million euro mark the first time. Figures for online sales are mainly based on reporting by 78 restaurants that offer home delivery. These sales count toward sales of brick-and-mortar restaurants.

Since Feb. 1, the beginning of the company's financial year, cumulative sales for the chain have increased 19.5 percent compared with last year, amounting to $23.2 million.

Total sales for restaurants in the Chalupa chain, part of Kotipizza Group Oyj, grew 43.8 percent in March 2018 compared with the prior year period. March sales amounted to $235,000. Same-store sales, based on figures from seven restaurants, decreased 24.7 percent.
