Long Island Pizza Competition set for Oct. 7

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The fourth-annual Long Island Pizza Competition is scheduled for Oct. 7 at Adventureland Amusement Park in Farmingdale. The charity event attracts top pizza makers from around the area and raises funds to feed the hungry on Long Island.

According to a news release, the competition includes two components: customer-preference voting conducted all summer via longisland.com/bestpizza; and an actual bake-off held in October, which also is National Pizza Month.

Pizzerias are encouraged to promote the contest and have their customers vote for them. Those collecting the most votes on the Web site become finalists at the bake-off, which is judged by a panel of celebrities.
