MaMa Rosa's under new ownership

Refrigerated pizza-maker MaMa Rosa's Pizza is now solely under the ownership of Huntsman Gay Global Capital.

According to theKansas City Business Journal, several Kansas City-area private equity firms sold to the Palo Alto, Calif., private equity firm that claimed to have used "its debut $1.1 billion fund to buy the company." Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MaMa Rosa's, founded in 1979 and based in Sidney, Ohio, sells more than 3 million cases of pizzas a year to more than 10,000 stores in the United States and Mexico. Its other brands include Mama Angelina's, Our Old Italian and Lean Lifestyle.

Huntsman Gay Principal Ryan Stratton said in a press release that MaMa Rosa's offers "a tremendous opportunity to develop a sizable platform, and we fully intend to grow the company through add-on acquisitions of other food businesses over time."
