Marco's attracts 2 industry franchise veterans for aggressive growth plan

March 15, 2017

Marco's Pizza has hired a couple industry vets to help grow its footprint. John Ramsay is now vice president of franchise development services, and Travis Edmonson has joined the team as vice president of franchise sales and development, according to a news release. The chain is on track to open 1,500 stores by 2020.

Marco's opens a new location about once every three days with more than 100 sites scheduled to open doors this year alone, which will push the brand to more than 900 locations by year's end. The chain has undertaken rapid expansion throughout the nation and the two new franchising leaders are part of that plan, according to the release.

Ramsay brings almost 30 years of franchising and real estate experience to Marco's, following previous restaurant development positions for Jack in The Box, TGIFriday's, Long John Silver's and Sbarro. He will drive new territory development and franchise sales.

Edmonson will actually orchestrate the development and execution of Marco's franchise sales programs after years with J&H Foods, Cheezies Pizza and Campero USA on the global and regional levels.

"Marco's Pizza is only as successful as the people behind the brand," President Bryon Stephens said in a news release. "As we're on the fast track to becoming a 1,500-unit brand, the proven track records of John and Travis will provide us invaluable insight and direction. Enhancing the franchise development process and experience is especially critical as we continue on this journey to becoming an even bigger player in the pizza industry."

Marco's is nearly 40 years old this year, after its 1978 founding by Italian-born, Pasquale  Giammarco. It now has more than 800 stores in over 30 states and four countries.
