Marco’s Pizza expands to Oklahoma City

May 11, 2011

Toledo, Ohio-based Marco's Pizza is in the middle of an aggressive expansion plan that CEO Jack Butorac hopes will move the company from the 23rd largest pizza chain to the top four.

Among those plans is a shift to the west. The chain opened its first Oklahoma City store this week, with several more expected in the market.

The new unit is owned by Kevin Wilkerson, who believes Marco's use of fresh cheese, dough made daily and sauce prepared from scratch will help the company earn a stake of the competition.

Marco's already has a presence in Oklahoma, with units in Edmond, Broken Arrow and Lawton. Wilkerson said he expects the franchise to grow to 40 locations in the state, including between 20 and 25 in the Oklahoma City market, throughout the next five to seven years.
