Marco's Pizza throws party for returning Iraq vets and families

December 11, 2005

TOLEDO, Ohio — About 180 members of the 983rd Engineering Battalion of the Ohio Army Reserves returned home from a tour of duty in Iraq on Dec. 7 to a pizza party thrown for them and their families by Marco's Pizza.

According to a news release, staffs at four Marco's units volunteered to prepare and deliver 200 pizzas to Springfield High School in Toledo.

"The response of the soldiers to our pizza was nothing short of phenomenal," explained Jack Butorac, Jr., president of Marco's Franchising. "They were so thankful, and what a wonderful experience for us to help them reunite with their families and share in this special moment."
